Shirley Gogolen of Lake Ariel, formerly of Haledon, N.J., died Monday at Commonwealth Hospice at Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness. Her husband was the late Julius Gogolen. The couple had been married for 58 years.

Born in Haledon, N.J., daughter of the late Sydney and Emily Smith, she was a supervisor at Data Scope, Oakland, N.J. She was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Dianne Doss and her husband, Wesley of Monroe, N.Y.; sons, David and his wife, Barbara of Wayne, N.J.; John and his wife, Kismet of Matamoras; and Gary and his wife, Kathleen of Apopka, Fla.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchidlren.
She was also preceded in death by several sisters.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, PA 18436.
