Stuart Ross, 78, Clifford Twp., formerly of Carbondale, died Sunday at Regional Hospital Hospice Unit. He was the husband of the late Julie Neutts, who died Jan. 30, 2006.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late Arthur Sr. and Loretta French Ross, he was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School. Before retirement, he was employed by General Dynamics in Eynon.

After spending much time on his deck observing the birds that visited his property, he was able to identify each species. He was very proud to serve in the Marine Corps.

The family would like to thank Dr. Neal Davis and Dr. Martin Hyzinski and all of their staff for the great care they provided. Also, the staff at the hospice unit at Regional Hospital.

Also surviving are two daughters, Lori Boland and husband, Jim, Greenfield Twp.; and Lisa Ross and partner, Krista Purvis, Carbondale; and three granddaughters, Jessica, Erica and Ashley Boland.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Caroline, Francis and Ruth; and two brothers, Arthur and Ronald.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home, 74 N. Main St., Carbondale. Interment, Our Mothers of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.

Friends may call Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m.
