Thomas E. Harris Sr., a resident at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, formerly of Keyser Valley, died Thursday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife, the former Lucille Ann Vizentine, died Oct. 31, 2001.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Edward and Helen Anna Pienkowski Harris, he was a graduate of West Scranton High School, class of 1957. He proudly served in the Army and was employed as a plater by the McKinney Corp. until his retirement.

Before his illness, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially looked forward to his brother's many visits.

Surviving are two daughters, Diane M. and husband, Judd Southworth, Maryland; and Christine E. Harris, Scranton; a son, Thomas E. Harris Jr. and wife, Shari, Plains; six grandchildren, Thomas and Corey Gazoo, Brendon and Haden Harris, Rainey and George Southworth; a brother, Edward Harris, Scranton; and a sister, Carol Joan Copeland, Summerville, S.C.

Private funeral services will be conducted at the convenience of the family with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church. Private entombment will be at Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum, Scranton. No public calling hours are scheduled.
