Wayne Blauvelt, 53, of Carbondale, died Sunday at home. His wife is the former Joann Ogozaly.

Born in Clifton, N.J., he was the son of the late William Blauvelt and Adeline Garber. He was a graduate of Clifton High School and had been employed as a truck driver by Coremark, Wilkes-Barre, before his illness.
Wayne enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races, especially Jeff Gordon, his favorite driver, and collecting NASCAR memorabilia. Building model cars was another pastime he enjoyed and spending time with his family. Ashes and Sasha, the family cats, were constant companions. He was a loving and devoted husband who will be missed.
He is survived by a step-daughter, Sandra Heater, at home; three daughters, Kristine Blauvelt, Corpus Christi, Texas; Melissa Menerey, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; and Jennifer Acevedo, Carlisle; his stepmother, Agnes Blauvelt, Lodi, N.J.; six grandchildren, Peter, Kaylee, Sean, Bella, Audrey and Riley; and a nephew.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, William.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson, with services by the Rev. Wayne Wolfe, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Carbondale.
