William McAndrew Obituary
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Walter and Lillian McLean McAndrew, he was a graduate of St. Rose High School and a member of St. Paul's Church. Bill was a businessman, a family man, a comedian and a patriot. As a young man, he served in the Baltimore Police Department. Bill was committed to and engaged in his community, active in local politics and humanitarian efforts and a lover and supporter of the arts. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Community Affairs. Above all else, Bill cherished the closeness of family and good friends. He left this world with a full and grateful heart.
Also surviving are three sons, Liam and wife, Megan, Jefferson Twp.; Brian; Sean and fiancè, Bill Canjar; a daughter, Katie, all of Scranton; three grandchildren, Liam Peter; Rory and William; a brother, Joseph and wife, Linda; a sister, Jean Mascaro; and nieces, nephews and his faithful companion, Poohbear.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Gavin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Church, Penn Avenue. Interment, St. Rose Cemetery, Carbondale.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements by the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton.

I am so sorry to learn of Bill's passing. Our condolences to the entire family. He was a good man and totally dedicated to his family. I loved his spirit and enjoyed working with Bill at the DCA.

i'm very sorry to hear of bill's passing......though i didn't know him, i know his brother joe very well and know he has to have been a great guy !!! he looks so much like joe to me !!!! this is the toughest part of life......having to say goodbye.......and then go on without them in your life....leaves an emptiness thats never filled.....i'm so very sorry....peggy and lenny mendoca ( rosemary mc'crackens sister )

We heard the news that our old neighbor in Green Ridge passed away the other day. Bill was a great neighbor and family man and we knew the McAndrew family for many years. Our children grew up together until we moved from our neighborhood over 20 years ago. Scranton has lost one of it's biggest fans with Bill's passing. Life goes on but it willl never be the same.

We will miss you dearly Billy. Both Brian and I and our family have enjoyed such fun times over the years. Your Family were your greatest Treasures in life always.
