Yolanda Castellani, 99, of Peckville, died Friday, January 18, 2013, at VNA Hospice of Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was the widow of Nazzareno Castellani, who died October 8, 1967.
The Guest Book is expired.
Born in Jessup, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Christina Pasquelina Cicilioni. She attended Blakely schools and was employed in the local garment industry. She resided in Peckville for over 80 years and was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, its Altar and Rosary Society and choir. She was active with Meals on Wheels, the Blakely Bears Booster Club and the Valley View Cougar Kickoff Club. She also was a contributor to the U.S. Missions.
Yolanda was the matriarch of the family where all activities centered around. She touched the lives of everyone around her and was the ultimate example of love and compassion.
She was very active in the lives of all her family, which began with her brothers and sister cooking pasta dinners for the Blakely Bears. From Pennsylvania to California, Yolanda attended all of her children and grandchildren's school events and community activities.
Yolanda personally enjoyed gymnastics as a child and became a culinary expert, learning to cook from her mother. She was able to compile the greatest recipes that her family and friends have and still enjoy. Yolanda also took great pleasure in boarding the bus en route to Atlantic City with many of her family and friends. She was also able to travel to Italy with her daughter and family six years ago to reconnect with family in Gubbio and Salerno. It was on this voyage where she also met and was blessed by Pope Benedict XVI.
The loss of Yolanda is devastating to the family, however, her life in all its marvelous detail will always be remembered and celebrated by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by a daughter, Adriene Edwards, Vista, Calif.; John "Jack" Castellani and Joseph; a daughter in law, Andrea Wolochowicz Castellani, all of Peckville; a brother, Benjamin Cicilioni and wife, Madelyn, Peckville; sister-in-law, Pam Cicilioni, Peckville; grandchildren, Mark and John Ledenbach, Jennifer Northover, David, Dawn and Renee Castellani, Joseph and Sean Castellani, Robert, Randy and Ryan Castellani and Robin Kordish; 30 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
