Yvonne Depew

Yvonne Depew, 34, of Union Dale, lost her courageous battle with breast cancer Tuesday in VNA Inpatient Unit at Community Medical Center surrounded by her family and friends. Her husband is Raymond Depew.

Born in Boca Raton, Fla., daughter of the late Donald Duffany and Alice Rishko, she was a graduate of Scranton High School and Marywood University with a degree in Business Administration. Prior to her illness, she worked as an accountant for UPS. Yvonne was a talented painter and shared her gift with many friends and family. She was a loving mother and cherished every minute she had with her daughters, recognizing it as a gift. Yvonne's strength and courage throughout her illness were admired by all. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

Family and friends would like to express their deepest gratitude for the care and support provided by Dr. Richard Emanuelson and the staff of Hematology Oncology Associates of Northeast PA, Dr. Christopher Peters and the Staff of Northeast Radiation Oncology Center, Dr. Vincent Vanston and the staff of the Sparta Cancer Center, and to Amy Michaely, who cared lovingly for her dearest friend until the very end.

Also surviving are two daughters, Rhiannon and Lily, at home; one brother, Matthew Duffany, Gainesville, Fla.; maternal aunt and uncle, Lori and Steven Rishko, Clarks Summit; cousins, Amy Rishko, New York City; and Eric Rishko, Scranton.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Georgeanne Snyder.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with a memorial service in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1 Shadow Brook Dr., Tunkhannock, PA. Interment, private at the convenience of the family.
