John J. Knapp 76, of Jessup, died Friday at Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center. His wife is the former Sandra L. Wescott.

Born in Jessup, he was the son of the late John and Anna Noverini Knapp. He graduated from Jessup High School and was a member of Queen of Angels Parish, St. Mary's Church. He served in the Marine Corps between 1954 and 1957. A lifelong Jessup resident, he was a member of the Jessup VFW Post 5544, and the Jessup American Legion Post 411, and a charter member of the Jessup Carbino Club. He was a lifelong member of Teamsters local 229. He was active in Jessup's' centennial in 1976, also being a member of the St. Ubaldo team for the resurrection of the Race of the Saints.

The family would like to thank Dr. Wayne Weston and Lackawanna Health and Rehab, especially the staff on B1 wing. Words could never express our gratitude for all the exceptional care.

Also surviving are three sons, Bryn Knapp and partner, Lisa Osborne, Archbald; John J. Jr. and Jay Anthony Knapp, Tampa, Fla.; three daughters, Mia Sidlasky and husband, Richard, Tampa, Fla.; Susan Munley and husband, Francis, Jessup; and foster daughter, Angelika Jones Gutierrez, Bedford, Va.; a brother, Louis B. Knapp and wife, Ann, South Williamsport; and grandchildren, Tia Knapp, with whom he resided; John J. III and Deborah Knapp; Haley and Rico Sidlasky; Stephanie, Keri, Mikaela and Joseph Knapp; Giovanni and Julius Joseph Knapp.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Louis Knapp.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Church. Interment, St. Mary's Assumption Cemetery, Montdale.

Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
