It is with love and heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, known to her friends as "Minnie", on Oct. 4, 2012 at Scranton Regional Hospital due to complications from pneumonia.
She was born on July 18, 1923 the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Corti) Baciotti. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, William Krajewski; and her brother, Joseph Curtis.
Minnie grew up in Scranton, graduating from South Scranton Junior High and Scranton Technical High School. After graduation, she moved to Baltimore, Md., to work for the Social Security Administration for a brief time, having to return to Scranton to take care of her mother. Minnie worked at many local establishments including, Hotel Jermyn, Rice's Women Store, Capital Records Club, McKinney Manufacturing and her last position, which she loved, as the house mother for the seminarians at the Savonarola Theological Seminary of the Polish National Catholic Church.
Minnie is survived by two children, son, William Krajewski and wife, Johanna, Thornton, Pa.; daughter, Rose Kazinetz and husband, Paul, Dickson City; five grandchildren, Nick Kazinetz, Jessup; Paul Kazinetz, Dickson City; Natalie and husband, the Rev. Jason Soltysiak, Scranton; Gregory Krajewski and Alexia Krajewski, Thornton, Pa.; nieces and nephew.
Minnie was a loving mother and loved being around her grandchildren. She could never say no when it came to helping others. She was a very dedicated servant and active volunteer in her church for over 50 years. She also dedicated her time to many community events, having served as past president of the St. Stanislaus PNCC grade school PTA, past president of women's auxiliary Rabiega-Gorgol VFW Post 3451, den mother for her daughter's and son's Brownie and Cub Scout troops. She was elected as a Republican Election Ward Committeewoman and served several years as a Judge of Elections. Throughout her life, Minnie shared her passion, joy and love of cooking not only with her family and her church but also with the countless people she befriended and loved.
Her children wish to acknowledge and thank the staff of the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center for taking care of our mother during the last year of her life.
Please join family and friends for a celebration of Minnie's life on Sunday, Oct. 7 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 8, at St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Church, 529 E. Locust St., Scranton.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to make a memorial donation to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
Burial services and interment will be in Italian-American Cemetery, Scranton.
