Vito J. Caputo of Old Forge died Saturday at Hospice Community Care, Dunmore. His wife is the former Vera Scavo.

He was born in Old Forge and was the son of the late Joseph and Rachela Pagnotti Caputo. A graduate of Old Forge High School, he had worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot before retirement. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge, and Disabled American Veterans in Dickson City. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Also surviving are a son, James Caputo, Duryea; a brother, Anthony Caputo and wife, Elaine, Piscataway, N.J.; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ange Santarsiero; and a brother, James Caputo.
The funeral will be Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the Jacob Davis Funeral Home, 422 S. Main St., Taylor, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Ann's Basilica, Scranton. Interment will be at Old Forge Cemetery. Military services will be held by AMVETS Post 189.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
