Louis N. Catalano, 83, formerly of Scranton, died Friday at the Illinois Veterans Home at Manteno, Ill.

Born June 10, 1929, in Scranton, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Mary Umile Catalano. He had been married to Johann Boudreau. He was an Army veteran of Korea, and was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Kankakee, Ill. He was a former treasurer of the Carpenters Union Local 496, and a former secretary of the Carpenters Apprentices. He helped build Slater Field for the Little League. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed rehabbing houses and fishing.
Surviving are a son, Dana Catalano, Franklin, Tenn.; a daughter, Dianne Fedrow and husband, Jay, Kankakee, Ill.; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Hugo, Walter, Nicholas and Mario; and a sister, Antoinette Luciani.
The funeral will be Saturday from the August J. Haas Funeral Home Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., Scranton, with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 630 Genet St., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Scott Sterowski, pastor. Interment Italian-American Cemetery, Minooka section of Scranton.
