Peter P. Polansky, 66, of Old Forge, died Wednesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Millie Anthony Polansky.

The son of the late Peter and Helen A. Czerkas Polansky, Pete was a graduate of Taylor-Moosic High School, class of 1964, attained rank of Eagle Scout, and was a proud veteran of the Navy. As an ASE certified master automotive technician, he owned and operated Polansky's Performance Center for more than 30 years. Pete was a member of the NHRA, as well as a drag racer himself. He earned his second degree Tang Soo Do black belt at the age of 56.
The most well-known of his extraordinary talents was his storytelling of his beloved Uncle Stosh.
He is also survived by a daughter, Christene Nystrom and husband, Robert, of Phoenixville; a son, Peter and wife, Sarah, of Duryea; his greatest joys, grandchildren, Eva Madeline and Nicholas Peter Nystrom; brother, John and wife, Rosemary; sister, Maryann Surdick; two aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, John Surdick; and a nephew, Craig Polansky.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 125 Stephenson St., Duryea. Interment with military services by the AMVETS Honor Guard will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge.
