Violet A. Dougherty, the Hideout, Lake Ariel, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital after an illness. Her husband of 55 years is Otis R. Dougherty.

Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Scank, she was a member of the Avoy Christian Church. She had been employed as a manager at the Dollar General store, Hamlin. She was a member of the and AARP.

Also surviving are sons, Brian, Hazleton; Kevin and his wife, Margaret, Honesdale; and Keith, Lake Ariel; a sister, Dorothy Maul, New Hampshire; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, by the Rev. Randy Eichelberger. Interment, Indian Orchard Cemetery.
