Anthony J. Schwenk, 73, a lifelong resident of South Scranton, died Saturday afternoon in the VNA Inpatient Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Anthony E. and Della M. Keller Schwenk. He was a graduate of Scranton Central High School, class of 1957, and had served in the Army Reserve.

Surviving are a sister, Ellen Schwenk, Scranton; two brothers, David Schwenk and wife, Pat, Swoyersville; and John Schwenk and wife, Pat, Clifton Twp.; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Hickory Street Baptist Church, 519 Hickory St., Scranton, by the Rev. Curtis Underwood, pastor. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call Thursday from 9 to 10 in the church.
