Sarah J. Godowski, 87, a resident of Lutherwood, Scranton, died early Wednesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was the widow of Harold E. Godowski, who died Feb. 5, 1986.

Born in Larksville, daughter of late George and Florence Howely Eppley, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking, traveling and her trips to the casino. She was very talented at making her own floral arrangements and various arts and crafts.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Nelson and husband, William, Madison Twp.; and Sandra Davis and husband, Gary, Taylor; two sons, Ronald Godowski and wife, Patricia, Moscow; and Jeff Godowski and wife, Rosemary, Jefferson Twp.; daughter-in-law, Elsie Godowski, Scranton; nine grandchildren, Brian Godowski, Anna Christine Godowski, William Nelson, Traci Covage, Kelly Davis, Gary Davis, Kevin Davis, Jeff Godowski and Lauren Godowski; five great-grandchildren, Amanda Nelson, William Nelson, Adam Taylor, Cole Davis and Hope Covage; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Harold Godowski Jr., on Jan. 4, 1999; several brothers and sisters.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church, East Elm Street and Froude Avenue, Scranton. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Those attending the memorial Mass are asked to go directly to the church.
