Dr. Selma Doloff, 95, of Scranton, died Monday at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dr. Bertram Doloff, in 1988.

Born March 7, 1917, in Jessup, daughter of the late Dan and Bessie Pearl Melnikoff Stambler, she attended Jessup area schools and went on to graduate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1938, marrying later the same year. She returned to the greater Scranton area, where she practiced optometry for 65 years until her retirement at the age of 86. She was involved with and very generous to numerous civic organizations, including the Pennsylvania Chapter of Easter Seals, where she served as past president, as well as the Quota Club in Scranton.
She is survived by her grandsons, Eli Doloff and wife, Wendy, Olyphant; and Matt Doloff, Scranton; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Max and Lillian; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Dan; daughter, Deby; and siblings, Florence and Sidney Stambler.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with services by Rabbi Joseph Mendelsohn. Interment in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery.
