Edward Bonczkiewicz Sr., 82, of Greenfield Twp., died early Wednesday morning at Mid-Valley Hospital, Peckville. His wife of 54 years is the former Laureen Pasko.

Born April 15, 1930, in Scott Twp., son of the late Nicholas and Cecelia Laskowski Bonczkiewicz, he served 10 years in the military during the Korean War. After the war, he served with the 365th Engineers of the Army Reserve. He worked as a police officer in Scott Twp. for 17 years and worked 30 years in construction and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 542 for 50 years. After retirement, he lived his remaining years farming.

He was a devoted and wonderful husband, father and grandfather who was very proud of his family and loved his animals.

Also surviving are four children, Edward Bonczkiewicz Jr. and wife, Lorie of Eynon; Robert Bonczkiewicz of Greenfield Twp.; Lori Ann Bonczkiewicz and companion, Jason Thiede of Union Dale; and Nicholas Bonczkiewicz and wife, Lisa of Greenfield Twp.; five grandchildren, Edward III, Belle, Lane, Lexis and Nicholas Bonczkiewicz; a sister, Ann Teddick of Chapman Lake; a brother, Stanley Bonczkiewicz of Florida; several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Joseph, John, Nicholas, Bernard and Frank Bonczkiewicz; and two sisters, Betty Glenicky and Cecelia Kaszuba.

A blessing service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, celebrated by the Rev. Michael J. Kirwin, pastor of St. John Vianney Parish. Interment with military honors, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
