Elizabeth Hallesky, 85, of Jermyn, died after a brief illness Monday at Moses Taylor Hospital. Her husband of 52 years, Joseph Hallesky, preceded her in death on June, 28, 2000.

Born April 23, 1927, in Blakely, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Lagvanec. She was a graduate of Blakely High School.
Spending most of her life as a homemaker, she was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, baking and being with her family. Her church, Corpus Christi, was one of her passions. As a member of the Women's Guild, she dedicated countless hours to the church. She prided herself in her handmade quilts and being a part of the church quilt socials. One of her favorite yearly events was the annual Harvest Festival.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. George J. and wife, Jo Ann Romano Hallesky, Montdale; and Robert R. and wife, Arlene Zemalkowski Hallesky, Factoryville; a daughter, Marie C. Hallesky, her primary caregiver, at home; a sister, Theresa Koniszewski, Peckville; a grandson, Robbie; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph; and three sisters Gabriel Slimak, Jane Morris and Mary Ann Matechak.
The funeral will be Thursday from the James M. Margotta Funeral Home, 1019 Main St., Peckville, with Mass at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, St. John Vianney Parish. Interment will take place at Holy Ghost Cemetery, Blakely.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Vianney Parish, Montdale.
