John D. "Butch" Pelucacci Jr., 73, a longtime resident of Covington Twp., died Thursday at home. His wife is Patricia Slavetskas Pelucacci. The couple was married 49 years.

Born in Scranton, son of the late John and Dena Venturi Pelucacci, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted and served in the Army. Before retirement, he worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot in the electronics and communication department. He was a member of VFW Post 396, Wyoming.
John was an avid hunter, fisher and golfer and had a great love of the outdoors. He was very fond of Alaska and made three trips there.
Also surviving are four sons, Robert, Dunmore; Greg and wife, Jean, Dunmore; Michael, Gouldsboro; and John and wife, Danielle, Mount Bethel; two sisters, Kathy Tagliaferri, Old Forge; and Diane Mikulski, Throop; a brother, Joseph, Scranton; six grandchildren, Gregory, Amanda, Grace, Anthony, Dominic and Giavanna; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jerry.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. from the Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3 First St., Spring Brook Twp., with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Church Street, Moscow, to be celebrated by the Rev. Robert Simon, pastor. Interment with military honors to follow in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
A visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
