Karen Shinkman, 60, of East Haven, Conn., died at Yale-New Haven Hospital, Sunday evening, March 31, 2013. Born in Scranton, Pa., May 26, 1952, she was a daughter of the late David & Bernice (Cohen) Shinkman. Beloved sister of Susan Shinkman of Washington, D.C., and Alan Shinkman of Los Angeles, Calif. Also survived by her loving godchildren, Laura, Jason and Paul Finkelstein, Brianna and Nicholas Hudson. Karen received a B.A. from Mansfield College, an MA from Southern Conn. State University, and taught math at Amity High School, Woodbridge, Conn. for 36 years until her retirement in 2010. She was an active member and Past President of the Amity Education Assoc. Funeral Services are strictly private. A memorial service for friends and relatives will be held on a day and time to be announced.
