Joan Gorecki, 81, of Pocomoke City, Md., formerly of Taylor, died Tuesday evening at Hartley Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter John Gorecki, on April 16, 1985.

Born in Scranton on March 11, 1932, daughter of the late Nicholas and Jennie Patachnick, Joan was educated in West Scranton schools. Before retirement, she worked as a seamstress for Rohr Lingerie and as a telephone sales operator for J.C. Penney. A longtime member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Old Forge before its closure, she was most recently a member of St. Ann's Basilica Parish in West Scranton.
She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Ferraro and husband, Joseph, Salisbury, Md.; and Susan Domzalski and husband, Bradley, Forest Hills, Md.; and four grandchildren, Joseph and April Ferraro, and Brady and Nicholas Domzalski.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dolores Rozelsky.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Basilica, St. Ann's Street, Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Francis Landry, C.P., pastor. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
