Laura A. Ford of Scranton died Friday evening in Dunmore Health Care Center after an illness. She was the widow of Robert A. Ford, who died in March 1968.

She was born in Gelsenkirchen-Buer, Germany, daughter of the late William and Emma Grivatz Ramberg. She lived most of her life in the city and graduated from Scranton Technical High School. She was a self- employed barkeeper, owning both the Sahara and Laura Anns establishments in Scranton before retirement. She was the first woman in Lackawanna County to own a liquor license. Laura was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church.

Her grandson, Shand, and great-grandson, Kaden, did everything they possibly could for Laura. She was an animal lover, having many pets over the years.

The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Remick and staff, and the staff of Dunmore Health Care Center for their care and compassion in Laura's final days.

Surviving are a daughter, Janice Dench, Scranton; two grandsons, Shamus and Shand Ford; great-grandson, Kaden Narvaez; and great-granddaughter, Keira Ford; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Glenn Ford.

The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Mary, Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 316 William St., Scranton. Friends are asked to go directly to the church.

The family will receive friends at the Bomberger-Lesko Funeral Home Inc., 1660 N. Main Ave., Scranton, Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
