Florence I. Keith, 73, of Effort, died Wednesday at home. She was the widow of Howard E. Keith.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late John W. and Ruth L. Webb Laird, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She worked in the shipping and receiving department for Courtland Novelty and was a nurse's aide at Community Medical Center. She was a member of the former Elmhurst Christian Church and was active in its Bible study and assisted in the audio- visual department.

Surviving are two daughters, Sue E. Bommarito and husband, Edward, East Stroudsburg; Cynthia R. "Cyndi" Smith and husband, Mark, Effort; a son, Kenneth James Botke and wife, Beth, East Stroudsburg; two sisters, Phyllis Mecca and husband, Anthony, Throop; and Lynn Peters, Scranton; a sister-in-law, Diane Laird, Spring Brook Twp.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth W. Botke; a son, Michael A. Botke; two sisters, Virginia Schmidt and husband, John; and Grace Lee and husband, Robert; a brother, John Laird; and a grandson, Timothy VanHorn.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 3 First St., Spring Brook Twp., with the Rev. Doug Littleton, pastor of Spring Brook Congregational Church, officiating. Interment to follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst Twp.
