Karen A. McDonough, R.N., of Jessup, died Tuesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the wife of Robert McDonough. They had been married for 25 years.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Robert and Peggy Blackledge Williams, she was a member of Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick's Church, Olyphant. She was a graduate of Central High School, Mercidian School of Nursing and earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Marywood College. Before her illness, she worked for 38 years at Mercy Hospital.

Karen was a unique individual who achieved what she wanted to be, a good hands-on nurse who gave her heart caring for her patients.

Surviving are sisters, Susan Williams, Scranton; and Candace Yakubik and her husband, John, Alabama; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Keith.

The funeral will be Friday with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Cross Parish at St Patrick's Church, Olyphant. Interment, St. Patrick's Cemetery, Blakely.

Friends may call Thursday, 1 to 6 p.m., at the Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, 702 River St., Peckville. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church on the morning of the funeral.
