Richard P. Lynch, 94, of Carbondale, died Friday at the Scranton Health Care Center. His wife, the former Margaret Carroll, died Nov. 2, 1998.

Born in Olyphant, son of the late Michael and Jennie Mason Lynch, he was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, and a graduate of Olyphant High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European theater, where he received a Bronze Star. He was the owner and operator of Lynch's Atlantic Service Station in Olyphant until its closing in 1968. He also operated Pools Inc., Dickson City.
He retired in 1983 from the Procter & Gamble Corp., Mehoopany. After retirement, he worked at the Scottish Glen Golf Course at Fern Hall, Crystal Lake. He was a member of the Twilight Golf League, and a former member of the Moxie Club, Carbondale, and the Elkview Country Club.
He was an avid New York Giants and New York Yankees fan. He was affectionately known by friends and family as "Uncle Dick."
Surviving are a daughter, Marie Zaccone and husband, Joseph, Carbondale; three grandchildren, Frank Zaccone and wife, Nicole; and Maura Mark and husband, Joseph, all of Carbondale; and Joana Wells and husband, Brian, King George, Va.; seven great-grandchildren, Joe, Gia and Ava Mark, Madelena and Nicholas Zaccone, and Bryan and Zackary Wells; several nieces, nephews and cousins from the Durkin, O'Malley and Carroll families.
He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Richard; two sisters, Jane Durkin and Mary O'Malley; and a brother, Robert Lynch.
The funeral will be Monday from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
