Ruth M. Lauriha, Taylor, formerly of Forest City, died Sunday morning at the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was the widow of August "Middy" Lauriha, who died Jan. 23, 1972.

Born in Vandling, daughter of the late George and Mary Agnes Stephenson Jackson, she attended Christ Episcopal Church, Forest City, and was a graduate of Vandling High School and Madam Scully's Cosmetology and Beauty School in Carbondale. She was a beautician in Vandling and Forest City for more than 40 years. After closing her shop, she was employed by the state Department of Labor and Industry in the unemployment office in Carbondale.
Surviving are a daughter, Judy Swartz and husband, Ezra, Taylor; a son, James Lauriha and wife, Cynthia, Spring Brook; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen; a son, William; and four sisters Mary, Eva, Irene and Frances.
As per her request, private graveside services will be held in Hillside Cemetery, Forest City.
