Mary A. McCrone Kirby, 89, of Ocean Park, Wash., formerly of Scranton, died Aug. 17 at SW Medical Center in Vancouver, Wash. She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Kirby. The couple celebrated 48 years of marriage November 2012.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Gilboy McCrone and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and Powell School of Business. After years of employment at the Murray Corporation in Scranton, she joined the Department of State's Foreign Service where she was stationed in Paris, France; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Tehran, Iran; and Oslo, Norway, before her and her husband established their home in Kirkland, Wash. They moved to Ocean Park in 2000. She was a member of Holy Family Church, Kirkland, and St. Mary's, Seaview, Wash, where she was a Pastoral Minister. She was active with the 55+ group and with Lazarus in Ocean Park.
She enjoyed traveling, gardening, fish keeping and reading. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Also surviving is a nephew, Patrick McCrone and wife, Marylou, Bloomsburg; and nieces, Sharon McCrone, Fleetville; and Mary Pat McDonough, Madison Twp.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Anna McCrone McDonough; a brother, John J. McCrone; and a niece, Rose Anne McDonough Hopkins.
The funeral will be Saturday from Mary Mother of God Church, 316 William St., Scranton, with Mass at 9 a.m. Inurnment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore.
