Mary Catherine Brady, vocalist, accompanist and compassionate caregiver, 83, Danville, joined the choir of angels after passing away at Geisinger Medical Center, Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013.

Born Dec. 2, 1930, in Dunmore, Pa., the daughter of William T. and Anna Gilroy Boland, Catherine was the widow of Charles H. (Bud) Brady Jr. She will be greeted in heaven by her husband, parents, daughter, Cathy Brady; her granddaughter, Paula Brady; and grandson, Janaka Carl; brother, Jerry Boland; and sister, Marguerite Kelly. Catherine was a graduate of Mahanoy City High School and attended Geisinger School of Nursing.

A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Danville, Catherine retired from her beloved job on GP2&3 at Geisinger Medical Center and worked as a private-duty nurse for Janet and Seigfried Weis, Emma Jean Knapper and many more, providing great care and comfort to anyone in need. Additionally, Catherine's musical flair and beautiful voice at hundreds of weddings, funerals and events in the Danville area made each event truly special.

As she and Bud raised their family, they owned and operated LeDuc Greenhouses in Danville. One can only imagine their life filled with flowers, music and children ... lots of children. Upon her husband's passing in 1975, Catherine went to work, as a single mother, as an aide at Geisinger and while working full time went to school part time and received her nursing degree two weeks before her 60th birthday. A solid work ethic, devotion to family and a heart of gold, Catherine's smile and the music in her soul is her legacy to us all.

Catherine is survived by her seven children, Bonnie, wife of James H. Trump; Charles H. (Mick) Brady III; Mary Ann, wife of Gerald Remick Sr.; John Brady, Margaret, wife of Donald Hunter; Bill Brady and his wife, Heather; Ted Brady and wife, Eileen; grandchildren, Bill Cameron, Kelly and Rick Spickard; Charles H. Brady IV, Maura Brady, Amanda Smith, Prahlad Remick, Tulsi and Joey Crowell; Gerald Remick Jr., Robert and Rebecca Hunter; and her beloved little twins, Abigail and Wyatt Brady; six great-grandchildren, Katie Spickard, Evan Spickard, Noah Crowell, Hannah Crowell, Adeline Crowell and Bailey Carl. Additionally surviving are beloved extended family members, Melinda, Linda, Rick, Jane, Don, Michael, Drew, Tyler and Marissa. Catherine has one surviving brother, John "Jackie" Boland of Dunmore; and sisters-in-law, Joy Brady, Joanne Bloskey, Joan Brady and Doris Boland; dozens of nieces and nephews and friends she loved as family.

Catherine will rest between her husband and daughter at a private burial service in St. Joseph's Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.

Because of Catherine's love of children and music the family asks that any memorial contributions be made to either Harmonious Endeavors, 100 W. Market St., Danville, PA 17821, to create a scholarship for young musicians; or to Camp Victory, P.O. Box 810, Millville, PA 17846, to provide joy to children with special needs. But mostly the family asks that you send flowers to someone you love or to call that special person you call mom.
