Allison "Butch" Howell, 63, Browndale, died Friday of injuries suffered in an accident. His wife is the former Ann Twardzik.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Howard and Nettie Lee Howell, he was a retired maintenance worker for the Carbondale City Department of Public Works. He was a certified ski instructor at Elk and Montage mountains. He also was a member of Berean Baptist Church, Carbondale.
Surviving are two daughters, Marissa Crawford Steger and husband, John, Montdale, and Sammi Jo Crawford and companion, Adrian Rizner, Vandling; a son, Kyle Howell, a student at Penn State University; two brothers, Harry Howell, Lake Ariel, and Lowell Howell, Childs; three sisters, Lorna Addley and Cindy Howell, both of Childs, and Loretta Collins and husband, James, Carbondale; three grandchildren, Maiya, Ashton and Dakota; several nieces and nephews.
Butch loved skiing, camping, fishing, gambling and spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. He was very proud of his son, Kyle, and all of his accomplishments. Butch and his best friend, Chuck Haley, were affectionately referred to as the "dynamic duo." The Haley family was like a second family to Butch.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home, 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, with services at 9:30 a.m. in Berean Baptist Church, Carbondale, by the Rev. John McCarty. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
