George R. Wheeler, 95, of Dalton, died Wednesday morning at VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. His wife, the former Geraldine Whitney, died in 1995.

Born in Ancramdale, N.Y., on April 6, 1918, he was the son of the late George and Mary Wheeler. Before retirement he managed farms in the Washington/New Milford, Conn., area. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, Dalton.
He enjoyed reading and gardening and loved to watch golf and his Red Sox baseball team.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Lundvall of South Abington; and Esther and her husband, Tim Sorber; a son, Alton Wheeler and his wife, Patricia, of New Milford, Conn.; a son-in-law, Albert Thibault of Winslow, Maine; several grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lettie Thibault; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Lundvall.
Funeral service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 302 W. Main St., Dalton, with Albert Thibault and grandson-in-law, Steve Etner, officiating. Interment, Fairlawn Cemetery, Dalton
Friends may call at the church an hour before service time.
