Edward C. Ellard, 83, of Old Forge, died Wednesday morning at his home following an illness. His wife, the former Mary T. Cosentini, died June 4, 2010.

Born in the Minooka section of Scranton, son of the late Charles and Victoria Niemiec Ellard, he received his education at the Johnson Technical Institute. Throughout his life, Ed was employed by Brooks Mfg., Old Forge, Hy-Grade Pants Co., Taylor, and then The Bon-Ton, Scranton. He was a longtime parishioner of Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, Ed faithfully served his country. He held membership in the Old Forge Senior Citizens Assoc. and was active in the Buckeye Rod and Gun Club. He and his wife were avid fans of the Polkas and enjoyed frequenting Mohegan Sun. Much of his time was spent outdoors, for he so enjoyed working in his garden. Ed was also an avid bowler.
His family wishes to acknowledge Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their wonderful care for both Ed and his family during his illness.
Surviving are three daughters, Audrey Cardamone and husband, James; Cheryl Alexander and husband, Bill, all of Old Forge; and Joan Ellard, at home; five grandchildren, Erika Bruckner and husband, John; Jessica Zelenski and husband, Paul, Sean McCarthy; Rachel Kobesky and husband, Keith; and April Corradino and husband, Bobby; four great-grandchildren, Izabella, Jayden and Louis Zelenski, and Gianella Bruckner; a brother, Robert Ellard, Scranton; two sisters, Mary Ann Connolly and Ann Marie Lee, both of Minooka; and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Edward Ellard Jr., on May 30, 2012.
The funeral with military honors will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Victor M. Ferri Funeral Home, Robert J. Gillette, Funeral Director, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Mary of the Assumption Church at Prince of Peace Parish, West Grace and Lawrence Streets, Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Rev. August A. Ricciardi, pastor. Interment, Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
