Ethel M. Ziff, 84, of Clarks Summit, died Sunday morning at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania, Scranton. Her husband of 32 years, Emanuel Ziff, died in 1982.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Larry and Frances Zuller Bernstein, she was a resident of Florida for 20 years, where she was active in Technion, an Israel organization, where she had the privilege of visiting Israel on its behalf. She loved to play mah-jongg and canasta.
The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Elan Gardens for making her feel so welcome, and a special thank you to the nursing staff of the fifth floor of the Jewish Home, especially to Marianne.
Surviving are a daughter, Dale Hersh and husband, Bob, Clarks Summit; grandchildren, Melissa Altay and husband, John; and Staci Pfeffer, all of Staten Island, N.Y.; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Altay, who was the love of her life; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mindy Stern.
A graveside service will be held today at 1 p.m. in Beth David Cemetery, 300 Elmont Road, Elmont, N.Y., by Rabbi Dovid Saks.
Local Shiva will be observed at Elan Gardens on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, 2 to 4, and Saturday, 8 to 9 p.m.
