Robert Emmett O'Neill Sr., 78, of West Scranton, died Friday morning at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Harrity O'Neill. Married on Sept. 14, 1962, the couple recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.

Born in Scranton on June 14, 1935, son of the late Patrick and Clare Hogan O'Neill, Robert graduated from Scranton Central High School, class of 1953, before joining the Navy. He worked as a technician for Northeast Sound Systems for more than 20 years before retiring from Arlington Industries in Taylor after 10 years of service. He was a devoted member of St. Patrick's Church in West Scranton and its Society of the Faithful.

Also a member of the West Side Senior Center, he was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. A loving family man who will be dearly missed, his greatest joy came in spending time with his six grandchildren.

He is survived by three children, a son, Dr. Robert O'Neill and wife, Dr. Beverly Drucker, of Tuckahoe, N.Y.; two daughters, attorney Barbara Reinhart and husband, attorney John Reinhart, of Nazareth; and Dr. Denise O'Neill of Bethlehem; a sister, Rita Doherty and husband, Thomas, of Allentown; six grandchildren, Reuben, Claire and Noah O'Neill; Alyssa, Bethany and Joshua Reinhart; many nieces and nephews.

Brothers, Gerard, Vincent and Eugene O'Neill; and sisters, Mary Tanner and Patricia Flynn, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Patrick's Church, 1403 Jackson St. Interment will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Parish Food Pantry, 1400 Jackson St., Scranton, PA 18504.
