Catherine E. Mecca, 94, of Dunmore, died Saturday evening in the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania, Scranton. Her husband, James V. Mecca, died April 3, 2002.

Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Josephine Ferdinand and was a graduate of Hazleton High School.
Catherine was a lady in every sense of the word. She was a caring wife, loving mother, the best mother-in-law, the sweetest grandma and the greatest great-grandma. She would always put other people's feelings before hers and lived for her family. Her passions were cooking, baking and crocheting. She was a devoted member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society and was a member of the Dunmore Senior Citizens Center. She lived a great life full of family, friends and God.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of the Jewish Home for its loving care.
Surviving are a son, James Mecca and wife, Georgette, Dunmore; grandchildren, Mark Mecca and wife, Meredith, Long Pond; Sara Whitlock and husband, G/Sgt David, Jacksonville, N.C.; and Jennifer Dolphin and husband, Bill, East Mountain section; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Angela, Mildred, Margaret, Mary and Rose; and brothers, Anthony, Louis, Dominic, Ralph, Joseph and John.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Interment, St. Michael's Cemetery, Dunmore.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
