Katherine Johnson, 98, of Taylor, died Saturday afternoon at Commonwealth Hospice. Her husband, George, preceded her in death.

Born in Taylor, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Shimo Strazik, she was employed by Hy-Grade Pants Factory, Taylor, before retirement. Katherine was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Taylor, and its Women's Guild, the Taylor Senior Citizens and Taylor Hose Company 2 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are two daughters, Ann Rist and Eleanor Kaminski, both of Taylor; a sister, Margaret Demanovitch, Dunmore; grandchildren, Robert Rist and wife, Lori, Florida; and Cheryl Werner and husband, Jack, Clarks Summit; great-grandchildren, Katie, John and Megan Werner, Jessica and Amanda Rist, Jonathan and Teddy Kaminski; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Metro; a grandson, Ted Kaminski Jr.; and her siblings, Helen Vineski, Mary Krista, Anna Demyan, Elizabeth Horvath and Agnes Stavisky, Joseph, Steve, John, George, Thomas and infant Steven Strazik.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, with the Rev. Norm Demming officiating. Interment, Milwaukee Cemetery.
