Judith M. Evans of Scranton died Tuesday at home after an illness. Her companion of more than 50 years is Henry Panek Sr.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Raymond B. and Grace Longacker Shelp. She was educated in Scranton schools, and she was an avid reader.
Her family was the most important thing to her; she enjoyed spending time with all of them.
Also surviving are her children, Lisa Kolodzieski, Henry Evans-Panek Jr. and Gloria Baldoni, all of Scranton; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Rogers and husband, Joseph, Buffalo, N.Y.; two brothers, Jack Shelp, Stroudsburg; and Richard Shelp and wife, Barbara, Scranton; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Evans; a son, Michael Evans; three brothers, Donald, Raymond Jr. and Russell; four sisters, Jean Elliott Zilatis, Doris Jobs, Ruth Rosencrans and Lois Balman.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., by Timothy Weeks, chaplain of the Commonwealth Hospice. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Friends may call Friday, 9:30 until service time.
