John Perry, 90, of Dunmore, died Sunday evening at the Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA, Scranton. He is survived by his wife, the former Antoinette Stango. The couple celebrated 60 years of marriage on Aug. 15.

Born in Dunmore, son of the late Joseph and Pasqualina Rosati Perry, he attended the Dunmore public schools. He was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore, and a proud veteran of World War II. Before retirement, he was the proud owner and operator of Perry General Contractors and Builders for 40 years.

He was a sports enthusiast, who enjoyed boxing and baseball. He was a very strong-spirited and generous man, whose interests included gardening, wine, pasta and sausage making, attending auctions and salvaging anything that could be used for one of his many inventions. By far, his most important treasures were his wife, children and grandchildren, who he held above any material possessions.

The family would like to express overwhelming gratitude to the compassionate staff at Green Ridge Healthcare Center for the loving care given to John.

Also surviving are daughters, Donna Coleman and husband, Joe, Clarks Summit; Patrice Lawrence and husband, Al; and Mary Regina Perry and husband, Robert Harrington; sons, John and wife, LeeAnn; and David A. and wife, Mary Rose, all of Dunmore; grandchildren, Domenica, Joey and Kate Coleman, Maria Francesca Lawrence, Marla Decker and husband, Rob; Taylor Ellen, Johnny Perry Jr., Alexandra; twins, David Anthony and Nicholas John; and Gina Perry; a brother, Gerard Perry and wife, Ann, Dunmore; sisters-in-law, Rose, Yola and Joan Perry; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by sons, Joseph and Thomas Perry; sisters, Mary DePietro, Ida Cordaro, Rose Bardini and infant sister, Mary Perry; brothers, Carmen, Frank, Paul; child brother, Gerard; Dominick and Joseph "Doc."
