Alexander Andrew Jervis died Wednesday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center after a several-year battle with congestive heart failure. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Tunkhannock, to whom he was married for 12 years.

Born April 6, 1939, son of the late Andrew and Florence Jervis, formerly of Factoryville, Al was a 1957 graduate of Tunkhannock High School. Al was born on the family farm, was a truck driver all his life and retired at age 65. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, held a leadership position with the church and assisted many of the members.

Al was an avid fisherman and hunter. He especially enjoyed fishing in his own pond and eating the fish he caught. He was a master gardener, and enjoyed canning and freezing food from his large gardens. Alex will be deeply missed by his fellow church members.

He is also survived by three brothers, Robert, Pasadena, Md.; and Stephen and Brent, both of Factoryville; a daughter, Veronica Davy, Tunkhannock; two sons, Brad Jervis, Factoryville; and Kevin Jervis, Hop Bottom; a special grandson, Jeremy Jervis, Factoryville; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Alexander Jervis Jr.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock. Interment will be at the Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
