Mary E. Gallagher, 102, a former South Scranton resident, died Friday at Abington Manor.

Born July 22, 1911, daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine Collins Barrett, she was a member of St. John Neumann Parish and graduated from Scranton Technical High School. Until her retirement, she was employed by the medical records department at Mercy Hospital. In past years, she was very active in the Nativity Church Summer Festival.
Mary's kindness and love will always be remembered by her sons and extended family.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Abington Manor and Dr. Boccagno and his staff for the care given to Mary.
Surviving are two sons, Robert F. Gallagher, Clarks Summit; and Joseph T. Gallagher and wife, Jane, Horseheads, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Timothy Gallagher and wife, Carolyn; Erin Donaldson and husband, Thomas; Mara Sears and husband, James; and Matthew Gallagher; eight great-grandchildren; and several nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Francis, Joseph and Thomas Barrett; and two sisters, Alice Clark and Rita Rosar.
The funeral will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
