Karen Jean Nash, 68, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Sunday morning at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She and her husband, Larry Nash, would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on June 26.

Daughter of the late Charles and Ruth C. Cooper Kimes, she was a member of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School class of 1963 and a 1980 graduate of the licensed practical nursing program at Lackawanna County Vocational Technical School. She worked for Dr. Henry C. Yeager for 20 years as his nurse manager.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed. She enjoyed going to the beach with her family, had a passion for animals and adored her cat, Meisha. Karen went to Gerrity's every night, seven days a week.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Sacred Heart and the nurses in the eighth floor at Regional Hospital of Scranton for their kind compassionate care.
Also surviving are a son, Jeffrey Nash, Scranton; daughter, Sherri L. Nash, Scranton; four grandchildren, Kylie, Kristopher, Kenzie and Ryen; a sister, Bonnie Schraner and husband, Frank, Scranton; three nephews, Mark, Scott and Jeff; a niece, Wendy; aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a niece, Lori Jean Schraner.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton, with services by the Rev. Dr. Stuart Thomas Wilson, interim pastor of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church, and Chaplain David Betts of Hospice of the Sacred Heart. Entombment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
