Milan Stephen Mazak, 90, a longtime resident of the Tripp Park section of Scranton, died Monday at the Geisinger Community Medical Center after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Mary G. Mazak, who died on Oct. 30, 2003. They were married for 54 years.

Born in Throop on Sept. 3, 1923, son of the late John and Susan Mazak, he was a graduate of Throop High School. After serving in the Navy, he became a skilled tool and die maker, worked for Consolidated Molding, Scranton, co-founded Square Tool and Die, Throop, and retired from General Dynamics, Eynon. He was member of Saint Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church, and served as its recording secretary for many years.
Milan enjoyed attending his grandchildren's school and sporting events and fixing anything mechanical. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and will be remembered for his gentle eyes and wonderful smile. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. His grandchildren were the joy of his life. He will be deeply missed by all of them.
Surviving are a son, Mark and wife, Joanne, Throop; a daughter, Cheryl and husband, Dennis, with whom he resided, Moscow; grandchildren, Lisa Havran and husband, Jeff, Archbald; Mark and wife, Amy, Dickson City; Rebekah Cawley, Chicago; and Meghan Cawley, Moscow; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, JJ, Preston and Cole; two sisters, Grace Baron, Apalachin, N.Y.; and Anne Moser, Forest City; a niece and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his infant sister, Helen; and sister, Olga Penkoski.
The funeral will be on Monday at 10 a.m. from the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, 445 Sanderson St., Throop. Services will be at 10:30 at Saint Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 25 Hillcrest Drive, Dickson City. Burial, Union Cemetery, Peckville.
A viewing will be held on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
