Edward P. Tierney, 64, of Covington Twp., died Monday at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.

Born in Scranton, he was the only son of Genevieve (Wallick) Tierney, Covington Twp., and the late Edward P. Tierney. Ed was a talented carpenter and avid woodworker, and was well respected for his craftsmanship.

He enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and watching his grandchildren play in the yard. He especially enjoyed watching the grandkids open gifts on holidays and birthdays. He was a lover of ice cream, chocolate cake and anything peanut butter, and enjoyed feeding those things to his grandchildren.

He is also survived by his daughter, Alice Kennedy and husband, David, Covington Twp.; his son, Aaron Tierney and wife, Elizabeth, Covington Twp.; his six grandchildren, Caleb, Benjamin, Jonathan and Paul Tierney and Julia and Jillian Kennedy; and was proudly expecting another grandchild this year. He is also survived by his former spouse, Kate Tierney, Covington Twp.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Geisinger CMC, who took care of him over the past few months.

A blessing service will be held Monday at 8 p.m. at Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3 First St., Spring Brook Twp. Interment, Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Catherine's Cemetery Chapel in Covington Twp. Cremation took place at Strauch Crematory in Lehigh Twp.
