Barbara Helen Jones Perry, 73, West Scranton, died April 11 at the Mountain View Care Center, where she had been a resident since January. Her husband, William A. Perry, died in 1986.

Born in Carbondale in 1940, daughter of the late Fred and Marion Marsh Jones, she was a graduate of Jermyn High School, class of 1958. She attended Women's Medical College, Philadelphia, where she studied nursing. She also attended Marywood College. She had been employed at Scranton National Bank. She retired from Clark Summit State Hospital, where she was a psychiatric aide for 20 years.
After marriage, she was a full-time wife, homemaker and mother to her two sons and active in their school activities and sporting endeavors.
She was a seasonal resident at Camp How Cola, Falls, where she enjoyed many seasons with her husband and summer friends around the campfire, nestled in the woods surrounded by nature.
Surviving are two sons, Glenn Perry and wife, Elsie, Kailua, Hawaii; and Brian Perry, Studio City, Calif., who returned to Scranton to be her primary caregiver; a stepdaughter, Barbara Perry Guzek, Scranton; a grandson, Jordan Perry, Kailua; a step-grandson, Thomas J. Guzek and wife, Lynn, Cumming, Ga.; a step-great-grandson, Thomas J. Guzek III, Cumming; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wants to thank the staff of Mountain View Rest Home for their kindness, understanding and empathy given to Barbara and her family and extended family. They visited frequently, and are truly angels who walk among us.
As were Barbara's wishes, cremation took place under the care of Battenberg Funeral Home, Jermyn.
A private celebration of Barbara's life will take place later this spring at the convenience of the family.
