Frank Zampella Sr., Clarks Summit, died Sunday morning at the Dunmore Health Care Center surrounded by his family.

Born in Italy, he was the son of the late Michael L. and Philomena Esposito Zampella. Before retirement, he was a produce buyer for many New York City restaurants. He was very proud of his heritage, but was full of pride to become an American with his siblings at a young age. Frank was a determined man who followed his dreams by coming to the land of opportunity.
Frank enjoyed cooking, gardening, rides in the country and socializing with many of his friends.
Surviving are his children, Frank Zampella Jr., Lydia Rutigliano, Phyllis Zampella, Michael and his wife, Teresa; and Toni Ann Zampella; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary; and two brothers, Nicholas and Dominick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home.
