Arthur H. VanBuskirk of Lenoxville died Sunday at Moses Taylor Hospital. His wife is the former Frances R. Phillips. The couple celebrated 50 years of marriage Sept. 7, 2013.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Arthur H. and Mary Neary VanBuskirk, Arthur was a member of St. Paul's Church. He was a graduate of West Scranton High School, class of 1954, and the University of Scranton, where he received a bachelor's degree in history and social science. Before retirement, he was employed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.
Arthur enjoyed hunting, coin collecting, antiques, gardening and traveling. He was well known for playing the tuba. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mary Frances Delaune and husband, Gene, Alexandria, Va.; two sons, Arthur H. VanBuskirk and fiancée, Maureen Leonard, Dunmore; and James A. VanBuskirk and wife, Jana, Levittown; eight grandchildren, Tara Leap, Erin, Anna and Andrew VanBuskirk, Rachel Destreich and Christopher, Catherine and Elizabeth Delaune; two great-grandchildren, Clare and Charlotte Leap; a sister, Joann VanBuskirk, Scranton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald VanBuskirk; and a sister, Mary Bauman.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the McGoff Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Paul's Church, Penn Avenue, Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
