Carmella M. Mecca, 94, of Dunmore, died Monday morning at the Jewish Home of Eastern PA after an illness. She was the widow of the late Patsy Mecca.

Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Michael and Lucy Frontuto DeMarco, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society, as well as being a member of the Hilltop Belles. Before retirement, she was employed by Gold Star in Scranton.
Carmella enjoyed going to the casino and spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife and aunt who will be forever missed.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the third floor staff at the Jewish Home. They took Carmella into their hearts as their own family, and cared for her with compassion and love.
Surviving are a niece, Renee Rinaldi, Dunmore; nephew, Paul Rinaldi Jr. and wife, Michelle, Dunmore; nephew, Paul Rinaldi Sr., Dunmore; nieces, Amber Lyn Rinaldi and Olivia Rose Rinaldi, both of Dallas; family friend, Kay Zawisky, Scranton; and also other nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Gerald, Pompeo and Nicholas DeMarco; and three sisters, Lena Bonafede, Mary DeMarco and Rose Volonino; a nephew, Michael DeMarco; and a niece, Rose Marie Rinaldi.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Interment will follow at the Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.
