Kathryn "Kathy" Ellen Matyjevich, 64, a resident of Dunmore, died Thursday at the Dunmore Healthcare Center. Her husband, Frank Matyjevich, died Wednesday after being stricken ill at work. The couple had been married since 1992.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late John F. and Mary Ellen Weis Loftus, she was a graduate of South Scranton Catholic High School. She worked in the customer service department of Sam's Club, Dickson City. She and her husband were active with American Legion Post 948.

She enjoyed her fish pond, gardening and reading trashy novels.

Surviving are two daughters, Shannon Simens and Stephanie Kowalski; a son, Tony Simens; two brothers, John Loftus and Dr. William Loftus; and grandchildren, Lucian and Diallo.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 602 Birch St., Scranton. Cremation will take place at the Strauch Cremation Center and Crematory, Lehigh Twp.
