Genevieve (Jenny) Janowicz, 88, a lifelong resident of Throop, died at peace surrounded by her family and pet dog, Grover, Wednesday afternoon at the VNA Hospice unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center after an extended illness.

Born September 27, 1925, Genevieve was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Fillmon) Sklareski. She was the widow of the late Stanley Janowicz.
The couple had been married more than 50 years. Jenny was a warm-hearted individual with a selfless sense to help all those around her.
In her younger days, she was employed in area dress factories. She had been a communicant of the former St. Anthony's Church in Throop.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith (Janowicz) Forrester, Throop; a grandson, James Forrester, Philadelphia; a sister, Josephine (Sklareski) Palumbo, Throop; brothers, Anthony Sklareski, Olyphant; and John Sklareski, Parsippany, N.J.; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers, Edward and Joseph
Mass will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Parish at St. Anthony's Church, 215 Rebecca St., Throop. Interment, St. Anthony's Cemetery, Dickson City.
