Elaine Krewson Starzer of Waymart was promoted to glory on Friday after a brief illness. She enjoyed 52 years of marriage to the Rev. Charles F.J. Starzer, who died in 1995.

She was born in Newark, N.J., on March 19, 1926, and was raised in East Orange, N.J., the daughter of the late William Henry and Florence Crelin Krewson. She was a partner in her husband's ministry throughout her adult life. She served as a Sunday School teacher, youth leader and Bible Study teacher among many other roles in the Roseto Presbyterian Church, the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale and the Waymart Presbyterian Church. Through her life and ministry she touched innumerable lives with God's love.
She is survived by her children, Paul C. Starzer, Carbondale; Miriam S. Baker, R.N., Port Jervis, N.Y.; and the Rev. Dr. Stephen W. Starzer, Mechanicsville, Va. She was also blessed with eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She sadly was also preceded in death by her son, John A. Starzer, in 2010.
The funeral will be Wednesday with services at 11 a.m. in the Waymart Presbyterian Church, Belmont Street, Waymart. Interment, Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, and Wednesday, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Waymart Presbyterian Church.
