Josephine E. Libassi, 92, of Scranton, died Wednesday in the Commonwealth Hospice Unit of NEPA at the Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the widow of Joseph C. Libassi, who died in 2003.

Born in Shenandoah, daughter of the late Attilio and Maria Gaetana Rizzo Belfiore, she was employed by C&D Sportswear in her earlier years.

Josephine was a seamstress who held membership in the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore.

Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Mischello, Elmhurst; two sisters, Theresa Novak and Maureen Post; three grandchildren, Cassidy Rose, Arianna J. and Carly E. Mischello; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, Frank and Anthony Belfiore; and two sisters, Ida Zangari and Carmella Belfiore.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, 322 Chestnut St., Dunmore. Interment will follow at Dunmore Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Morell-LaBelle Funeral Home, 301 Chestnut St., Dunmore.

There will be no public calling hours.
